From Clay to Color

1. Sourcing the Clay and Tools
I source high-quality clay and glazes from a trusted local supplier. In my studio, essential tools, like trimming knives, sponges, ribs, and bats, help shape each piece with care.

2. My Home Studio Setup
Everything happens in my cozy home studio, where I’ve set up a professional pottery wheel and an electric kiln. I’ve arranged the space with care—there are dedicated areas for throwing, drying, glazing, and firing—each corner designed to keep the creative flow smooth and inspired.

3. Forming the Pieces
Wheel-throwing is my favorite part of the process—there’s something mesmerizing about centering the clay and pulling up the walls to form bowls, mugs, and vases. Every now and then, I like to switch things up with hand-building techniques, especially when I’m aiming for more sculptural or organic designs.

4. Drying and Finishing
I let each piece dry slowly to prevent cracking. Once they reach the leather-hard stage, I trim the bottoms, carve in delicate details, and attach handles or other embellishments to bring the design to life.

5. Bisque Firing in my Kiln
I fire each piece once at a lower temperature to harden the clay—this initial firing sets a strong foundation for beautiful glaze work and lasting durability.

6. Glazing with Love
I apply glazes with intention. Sometimes layering them to create depth and texture. The second firing is where the magic happens, bringing out vibrant colors and giving each piece either a glossy or matte finish, depending on the style I envision.

7. Final Touches and Packaging
Every piece I make is carefully inspected, cleaned, and wrapped in eco-friendly packaging whenever possible. When it’s ready to ship, whether across Belgium or beyond, I tuck in a handwritten note.
An important note on pictures, sizes and colors
Pictures
All pottery shown is real and handmade. Some images may feature decorative or digital settings to help illustrate how my pieces could live in your space. These settings are meant to inspire, not to mislead.
Sizes & Colors
Every piece is unique. Sizes and colors may vary slightly due to the nature of handcrafting and small-batch glazing. This variation is part of what makes our pottery personal and alive.
